Bags from H’mong Indigo | Embroidery | Hemp

Since spending a considerable amount of time in Sapa, with some women of the H’mong and Dao tribes, I collected lengths of intricate home grown hemp, hand-woven, hand-dyed, hand-embroidered Heirloom quality textiles.

I wanted to create something special, instead of just pillow cases (which they are often used for), so last year I began to make clothes, but because of the weight of some of the material, they lent themselves to little clutch bags, hand-bags, and pouches.

I want these incredible fabrics to have new life, to be seen, to be appreciated, and to be used everyday.

They are all lined with silky luxurious material and have strong metal zippers.

Using Antique Textiles

Years of collecting embroidered tables clothes, ethnic materials, and French linens has lent to this series of tops and dresses.  Some of them were in my grandmothers cupboards, others at flea markets, many through traveling..  each are special.
